The group known as RIDGE (Research Into Deer Genetics and Environment) was initiated in 1992 as a non-profit organisation open to all interested parties, with the aim of instigating a self funding, self regulating and sustainable management system for wild deer in Queensland.

The RIDGE Group for over 30 years has advocated for sustainable management of Queensland's wild deer herds.
Through collaboration with Outfitters, Landowners and Research partners RIDGE has assisted in the development of a system that works for both local communities and primary production.
